A well designed battery system Will comprise of the following components

Batteries

The batteries are the power house of the system, and when off-grid, good quality batteries are essential.

Victron batteries are perfect for off-grid, marine systems, delivering superior power and longevity. Their high-speed charging lithium batteries are ideal for high-demand scenarios and feature impressive battery cycle life.

BMS

The BMS (Battery Monitoring System) is an essential component of the battery system. Its function is to monitor the state of the battery and control other devices connected to the battery system. It allows the battery to be charged and discharged safely.

Inverter / Chargers

Good batteries are only the start; having the ability to recharge and harness the energy stored in them is key.

Combining an inverter and battery charger in a single enclosure enables numerous sophisticated features, such as PowerAssist and PowerControl, which are ideal for mobile, off-grid, backup, and energy storage applications. All Victron inverter/chargers enable charging with solar & wind priority, ESS-ready models enable dynamic ESS, and so much more. Models with solar chargers built in are also available for a compact installation.

DC/DC Charging

A DC/DC charger is essential for charging your new battery setup. Just connecting your engine's alternator to a lithium, AGM or Gel battery bank is not the thing to do; it will drastically shorten the life of your battery and alternator.

With a DC/DC charger, you can adjust the charge current and voltage to suit your battery chemistry, ensuring the longevity of your system.

Local & Remote Monitoring

Having the ability to monitor your system while onboard or from a remote location is essential. Enjoy effortless local monitoring with the VictronConnect app. Unlock the full potential of VRM - remote management with a communication centre. Enhance system functionalities with displays, panels, meters, and sensors and utilise the Victron free marine MFD app.

Other things to enhance your onboard power system

Marine MFD Integrations

Once connected, you can easily monitor and control your boat’s power system from a compatible MFD (chart plotter). Being able to keep an eye on your power system while on the move can be a nice feature to include.

Solar Panels

Harness free energy from the power of the sun.

Solar energy is a great way to keep your batteries topped up, whether on the move or at anchor. You will be surprised how effective a well engineered system can perform even in overcast conditions, the key is good quality panels and a quality MPPT charge controller.

High Output Altonator

Having upgraded your battery system, your standard 40 or 50 amp alternator may struggle to keep up with the extra load placed on it, especially at low RPM.

Standard alternators tend to overheat at low RPM due to insufficient air flow and burn out.

The addition of a high-output altonator such as the ARCO Zeus range of altonators and charge controllers is the answer to this problem, with charge currents in excess of 200 amps.

Viction energy is our go to brand for power products, they offer a comprehensive range of battery chargers - battery's -  inverters - solar panels - MPPT charge controllers - battery isolators & combiners - battery protectors - DC distribution systems - system monitoring and integration.

We will confidently supply and install anything from a small stand-alone battery charger to a fully integrated system.
